About Faces of Basketball

What is Faces of Basketball?

Faces of Basketball is a dynamic online hub which combines online activities with offline events, creating an opportunity for Special Olympics athletes, coaches and supporters to participate in Special Olympics European Basketball Week 2021 whether or not they can physically take part in activities!

Events from across the region are being mapped to the Faces of Basketball homepage in real-time. Pins are generated based on the geographical location of the event. Events can be filtered by country to find local events in your area.

Who is involved?

The Special Olympics PLAYERS, who train hard and love the game, and the UNIFIED PARTNERS who play alongside them. The COACHES who volunteer and the SUPPORTERS – families, friends and partners – who cheer on Special Olympics players every day.

How can you participate?

Our Partners

Faces of Basketball is generously supported by the Lions Clubs International Foundation and TOYOTA.

Lions Clubs International Foundation

This year Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) and Special Olympics are celebrating a powerful 20-year long partnership, and Faces of Basketball is another exciting example of the foundation’s tremendous, ongoing support. For the past two decades, LCIF has served as one of the movement’s largest and most global partners. Together, our organisations work to bring proper eye care to Special Olympics athletes around the globe through the Special Olympics- Lions Clubs International Foundation Opening Eyes programme. In addition, LCIF provides strong financial and technical/volunteer support to inclusive sports, refugee programming, family health seminars, and much more.

In 2020, Lions Clubs International Foundation was a proud supporter of the award-winning Faces of Football digital hub and campaign which reached tens of thousands of football players across 58 countries in the Special Olympics Europe Eurasia region. Special Olympics is incredibly proud of the Special Olympics- Lions Clubs International Foundation “Mission: Inclusion” partnership and looks forward to activating throughout the Faces of Basketball experience!

TOYOTA is a proud, long-term supporter of Special Olympics at global, regional and national levels. A global partnership was signed with Toyota Motor Corporation in 2017. A regional three-year partnership, between Special Olympics Europe Eurasia and Toyota Motor Europe, followed in 2019. This regional partnership supports Special Olympics grass-roots inclusive programming and Unified sporting events across the region. The primary goal is to increase awareness and access to Unified Sports. This opens the door for more children and adults of all abilities to experience the inclusive power of sport, and the unity it creates both on and off the field of play. During the first two years of the partnership, Toyota employees and dealer networks across the region volunteered and supported local Special Olympics athletes at both online and in-person events. In 2020, Toyota was also a proud supporter of the award-winning “Faces of Football” digital hub and campaign. This initiative reached tens of thousands of football players across 58 countries in the Special Olympics Europe Eurasia region.
